DTL 013: Conversations Worth Having

When Russ saw this book the title totally captured his attention: Conversations Worth Having. It immediately made him think about conversations he’s recently had that weren’t worth having! Have you had any of those? Maybe you’ve had a conversation with a customer, boss, colleague, or teenage child that you found totally exhausting and not worth your energy.

The authors of this book would suggest we all take accountability for those conversations and change them so that they ARE worth having.

In episode #13 of the Decide to Lead podcast Russ talks with Dr Jackie Stavros about the book she and her co-author Cheri Torres wrote after researching communication and coming to the conclusion that we should architect our conversations differently in order for them to be productive and meaningful.

Russ is new to the whole idea of Appreciative Inquiry which is a central part of the book. In this week’s show he asks Jackie to define it and to walk through how we should change the conversations we’re having with our coworkers, customers, boss, spouse, and children.

This week’s show will totally change how you view your conversations.
